Natural cleaning my tips for a healthy and green interior

To begin I will share the story about why our family turned to 100% healthy and natural cleaning options. My mother once had an allergy that led to a lump on her face to the point that she was barely recognizable. After several days of testing, the person following my mother diagnosed her as allergic to a toxic component. This very irritating component is present in many everyday things, from the laundry that we use to the glass cleaner through the hair coloring!

After that, we had to completely review our cleaning routine. There was no alternative, we had to switch to 100% natural.

Natural cleaning: laundry and dishes

Laundry

As for laundry, there are now more and more alternatives to chemical laundry. Many brands like the Green House, the Frog, or some supermarket brands like Super U offer natural laundry.

If you have allergic tendencies or babies and kids, it is better to avoid perfumed detergents that are more irritating.

Regarding the softeners, you can also turn to the same brands.

If you are a fan of DIY you can also create your laundry by simply mixing shavings of marseille soap (available on Aromazone or the soap factory of the Unicorn) with boiling water (60g of soap for 1L of water). You have to shake so that there are no more chips and wait a day. Tada your homemade laundry is ready!

Clean your washing machine:

A complete cleaning of the machine is to be done at least once a month if you use your device very regularly, and especially if you wash at a low temperature.

You need to perform your washing vacuum at and high temperature to peel off the soap and dirt residues that are inside the machine and in the evacuations making your machine less effective in the long run. This will also remove tartar. To do this, pour a liter of white vinegar and 2 tablespoons of baking soda into the drum of the machine. Then run an empty cycle at 90°C for two minutes, then stop and let stand for one hour.

Wash your dishwasher and dishes

Like the washing machine, the dishwasher should be cleaned ideally every month. You can simply put a bowl of white vinegar on top of the dishwasher, sprinkle baking soda everywhere, and add lemon juice. Finalized by a good normal cycle and it will be clean again.

For burnt dishes and pots that do not go to the washing machine or remove the traces of coffee or tea remaining in the cups the percarbonate of soda is your ally! The crystals of soda are very effective on greasy surfaces such as the oven plate.

Finally, do not forget your fridge that you should ideally clean every 2 weeks with black knowledge and hot water and finalize with white vinegar.

Natural cleaning for the floor, window and room

Household accessories for a natural cleaning

Above all, you must have the right household tools. Even if you start your 100% natural household, you might as well turn to 100% 0 waste!

For this, you need: a kit of micro-fiber cloths: thick for surfaces like furniture and ends for windows. Finally for places where you need to rub: a good sponge dedicated to the cleaned space (to avoid putting bacteria from one place to another). I will be quite honest I have still not been convinced by a zero-waste sponge and I do not find them practical for the dishes so I stay on normal recycled sponges that I complete with a wooden brush (like those found in organic stores) for stubborn places.

For the windows and the bathroom nothing better than a good raclette to not leave ugly traces.

A good vacuum cleaner (a cordless one) is also essential, you should think about cleaning the filter after each use. It is important to clean it taking into account the indications on your leaflet. I also recommend a mop with reusable microfibers that are machine-passed to not add a mental load.

If your budget allows you, I advise you to opt for robot vacuum cleaners for a real saving of time and therefore relieve our mental load (yes always this one). You can find vacuum cleaners for all types of budgets.

Household products

To clean the floor, rooms, or furniture I use the same products. For a simple daily cleaning of the black soap diluted in warm water. When the dirt is more persistent and there are grease stains, I use the Ecoclair scouring cream which has a strong degreasing power.

To clean the windows I recommend this product that leaves a sweet scent of mint.

I also still have my 4 flagship products:

  • Soda percarbonate: I use it to clean the toilet and the bathtub. Percarbonate can be used to purify soils and clean joints. It is also useful for burnt dishes and pot bottoms as well as traces of coffee or tea on the dishes.
  • soda crystals: it has several uses including increasing the effectiveness of laundry; cleaning toilets and maintaining pipes and cleaning oily surfaces such as oven plates
  • citric acid: descaling effectively (taps, shower heads, boilers, and coffee machine as well as the washing machine).

The 3 are available in the Aromazone shop.

  • White vinegar: Finally you can complete the cleaning with a good white vinegar that will disinfect the cleaned surfaces. It can also be used for laundry that softens and makes it shiny. To clean and revive the colors of a carpet/carpet, it can be moistened with hot vinaigrette water and then scrubbed with a brush. We air if needed. White vinegar is very economical and you can easily find it in supermarkets.

Perfume one’s interior

Purify the air

Before you perfume the best is also to purify the air of your home. We often think about cleaning our interior but we forget the importance of purifying the air. Already it is important to ventilate every day for at least 1/4 hours winters as summer. Indoor air is more polluted than outdoor air due to the many chemical residues released by paints on walls and furniture. It has tragically 5 times more polluted inside than outside!

Finally to purify the air of bacteria use this product: unessential sanitizer (aerial spray) its effectiveness has been scientifically proven to actively fight against viruses, bacteria, and mold. This product treats indoor air, limits the sources of epidemics (more than useful with the evils of winter or COVID), and drives away pollutants and bad odors thanks to a complex of 41 essential oils.

It is only effective if you let it act for a quarter of an hour and then air afterward.

There are also specific plants that purify the air and as a plus, they are a beautiful decoration.

Perfume your interior

Your household is complete! If you like to perfume your interior once your household is finished, you have several natural options:

  • incense, it is important to properly ventilate the room once the incense is burned.
  • candle my friend creates her natural candles (in natural wax and splendid shapes)

For both stains take only 100% natural products otherwise it will have the opposite effect! Please look carefully at the indications on the back of the packages as they may contain essential oils and some are prohibited for pregnant women and infants/toddlers.

Finally using chemical cleaners also makes your environment hyper sterilized which prevents the proper development of good bacteria and can weaken your immune system.

Good natural cleaning to you 😉
